Our activities on the theme : Systèmes alimentaires urbains

By 2050, two-thirds of the world’s population is expected to live in urban areas, as the promise of prosperity stimulates rural-urban migration.
Access to healthy, locally produced fruits and vegetables is increasingly difficult for people living in Benin’s urban areas, where the growing proportion of the “urban poor” – and particularly poor female-headed households – cannot afford a nutritious diet.
In order to empower the urban poor to improve their food and nutrition security, ACED develops allotment gardens in Benin’s cities and provides policy-makers with evidence-based information on how to improve urban food systems.
