Challenge 1
Low access of small farmers to innovations and markets
The world has developed - and continues to develop - agricultural innovations that could increase the productivity and performance of small-scale farmers. However, very often these innovations fail to reach the people at the base of the pyramid and have an impact on those most in need.

Worrying decline in natural capital
Responses to food and nutrition insecurity are determined by our relationship with natural capital, which is declining alarmingly, with ever-increasing species extinction rates and ever-increasing pressures on biodiversity.
Learn moreChallenge 3
Weak integration of evidence into policy and practice
Interventions are failing to halt the progression of food insecurity and biodiversity loss. This is due, in part, to the quality of decision-making, particularly in Africa, where interventions are not sufficiently supported by evidence.

Our MISSION
Strengthen communities with sustainable solutions to poverty and hunger in a healthy environment.
Implementation of the strategy
Pillar 1
Improving smallholder farmers’ access to innovation and markets
Five years from now, we’ll have :- Helped 50,000 farmers increase their productivity and incomes and improve the food and nutritional security of their families.
- Improved access to agricultural markets for smallholders.
Pillar 2
Protecting nature and associated ecosystem services
Five years from now, we’ll have:- Strengthened the knowledge base on ecosystem services by improving the capacity of at least 200 researchers ;
- Supported 10 processes to integrate ecosystem services into planning and decision-making for sustainable ecosystem management ;
- Supported at least 20 local communities to develop actions that take advantage of local ecosystem services.
Pillar 3
Putting evidence to work for society and nature
Five years from now, we’ll have:-
- Supported 1,000 policy makers, researchers, data specialists, assessment experts and intermediaries in the creation of an ecosystem where the use of evidence is institutionalized;
- Established the first helpdesk on the use of evidence in food and nutrition security in Benin ;
- Established ACED as the reference point for evidence in the field of food and nutrition security in Benin and the partner of choice linking producers of evidence to policy makers.
Pillar 4
Building an effective and sustainable organization
- Improving effectiveness and efficiency
- Improving governance
- Measuring impact and promoting learning
- Ensuring durability.
