Opportunity for NGOs to join a capacity development programme on evidence use

Deadline for applications: 11 June 2021

Evidence (research results, evaluation results, endogenous beliefs and knowledge, citizen opinions, and statistical data) is essential to help policymakers and practitioners make informed decisions and implement appropriate actions, especially in sensitive development areas such as food and nutrition security. Unfortunately, evidence use among policymakers and practitioners such as non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is still limited. One prominent reason is the technical constraints of accessing, collecting, understanding, and using evidence.

ACED, in partnership with 3ie and with the support of USAID and Save the Children, is implementing an initiative focused on NGOs that implement programmes and projects on food and nutrition security. The initiative aims to:

  • Collect data to inform on the current state of capacity of NGOs to access, understand and use evidence during the design and implementation of interventions in the food and nutrition security (FNS) sector.
  • Map the capacity needs of NGOs to develop a technical guide and an online course that would help them access, understand and use evidence during the design and implementation of interventions in the FNS sector.
  • Select a set of 25 NGOs operating in the field of food and nutrition security in francophone West Africa and engage them in a pilot capacity development program to access, understand and use evidence during the design and implementation of interventions in the FNS sector.

Therefore, we are inviting NGOs that are active in the field of food and nutrition security to participate in the initiative. If selected, your organization will gain the following benefits:

  • Improve the knowledge and capacity of your staff on the concept of evidence-informed development;
  • Improve your monitoring and evaluation framework and your theory of change;
  • Increase your chance to mobilize funding from international funding organizations through the development of evidence-informed projects and programs; and
  • Improve your organization's overall impact by designing, implementing, and evaluating projects and programs that are proven successful.

To express your interest in participating in the program, please complete the online form at this link before June 11, 2021.
