About the post

We are looking for a Finance Officer to manage financial and accounting transactions at the programmatic and institutional levels. The Finance Officer will bring his expertise and services to the technical teams of the executive direction and to the board of directors. ACED executes projects funded by various partners who have diverse requirements. The Finance Officer will therefore ensure accountability to the partners while ensuring reconciliation of financial and accounting operations at the organizational level. The position is based in Abomey-Calavi, Benin.

The position includes the following responsibilities:

Manage all accounting and financial transactions
Prepare budget forecasts and monitor their execution at project and organizational level
Monitor the cost structure of the organization and recommend options for improving efficiency
Prepare pay slips and process payroll
Supervise liquidity management
Calculate employer taxes and charges, and prepare and submit tax returns on time
Support audit missions
Prepare periodic financial reports and financial statements in a timely manner
Coordinate procurement processes
Ensure the management of tangible and intangible assets
Supervise administrative tasks
Strengthen the confidentiality of financial and accounting data and ensure data backup
Ensure the compliance of the organization’s financial and accounting operations with the financial and accounting policies and regulations in force in Benin and in the OHADA area.

About you

We are looking for a Finance Officer who has the profile below:

Be resident in Benin
License or master’s degree in accounting, finance or any other related field.
Additional professional certifications are an advantage
3 years of professional experience as an accountant, preferably with non-profit organizations
Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including accounting principles (GAAP)
Excellent knowledge of the accounting regulations and procedures in force in Benin and in the OHADA area and the specifics related to non-profit organizations
Practical experience in accounting software. ACED uses QuickBooks Online.
Good knowledge of MS Excel and other Office 365 applications
Have experience in the accounting and financial management of projects supported by partners as diverse as multilateral organizations, bilateral organizations and private foundations.
Be able to navigate between several procedures required by financial partners and ensure procedural consistency and rigor at the organizational level
Good knowledge of procurement procedures and principles
Great attention to detail and good analytical skills
Understand English and be able to interact with English-speaking partners and suppliers.
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
